1.4 explain the roles of DNA and RNA in protein synthesis

Roles of DNA

• sequence of bases in DNA codes for the sequence of amino acids

• DNA acts as a template for the transcription of mRNA----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Roles of mRNA

• mRNA - carries the ode for the protein into the cytoplasm for translation  into a polypeptide

• tRNA - provides the anticodon to complementary base pair with codon on mRNA so bringing the amino acid to form the polypeptide

• rRNA - catalyses the reaction of linking of the amino acids by peptide bonds to form a polypeptide chain
