The relationship is that the sequence of nucleotides is translated to make mRNA molecules. These mRNA molecules are then translated to form a sequence of amino acids which are linked together to make the polypeptide.
Therefore it is the sequence of nucleotides that determine the amino acid sequence in a polypeptide
