gene - a sequence of DNA nucleotide that codes for a polypeptide
allele - one of two or more alternative forms of a gene
dominant - an allele having an effect on the phenotype even when a recessive allele is also present
recessive - an allele having an effect on the phenotype only when a dominant allele is not present
co dominant - when two allele at a locus have an effect on the phenotype of an heterozygous organism
heterozygous - possessing two different alleles of a gene
homozygous - possessing two identical alleles of then same gene
